A Full Remodel Built Around a New Tub
The old steel tub and mortar-set tile came out. The family wanted to keep a tub, so we set a new acrylic one with Pro Stone walls, two corner shelves, and two shampoo boxes. Then came a Merillat double vanity with a quartz top, a new floor, toilet, fan, and sconces.

Two Bathrooms, One Project
In the main bath, the tub became a walk-in shower with Biscuit Pro Stone walls, a shampoo box, a fold-down seat, and a new Delta fixture, plus a smaller Merillat vanity with a quartz top. The second bath got a new vanity, top, and faucet. Both floors stayed.

Biscuit Subway Walls and Gold Trim
A steel tub and mortar-set tile came out of a 60-inch alcove. In went a custom Pro Stone shower pan and Biscuit walls in a small subway pattern, a matching window kit, a corner seat, and a corner shelf, with rain glass sliding doors, a Delta shower fixture, and a grab bar, all in gold.

A Made-to-Measure Stall Shower
This stall shower was not a stock size, so we had a custom 35 x 37¾-inch Pro Stone pan made with a 40-inch curb. Beige gloss Pro Stone walls and a diamond corner shelf went in around it, finished with a DreamLine pivot door in brushed nickel with clear glass.

What Livonia Bathrooms Usually Need
Livonia grew fast after World War II. More than half of its homes went up in the 1950s and 1960s, and most are single-family brick ranches, split-levels, and colonials. That shapes the bathrooms we see here.
Census estimates put the median year built for a Livonia home at 1963. About 56% of homes were built between 1950 and 1969, and only about 6% in 2000 or later. Roughly 86% are detached single-family houses, most with three bedrooms, and a similar share are owner-occupied, compared with about 65% across Wayne County.
Many of these houses still have the original steel tub, with tile set in mortar over wire mesh. Ranches with a basement let us reach the drain from below, which makes tub-to-shower conversions and new acrylic tubs straightforward, and grout-free Pro Stone cultured marble walls replace the tile. For planning numbers, see typical bathroom remodeling costs.
- 1950s and 1960s ranches: original steel tubs, mortar-set tile, and windows inside the shower
- Colonials and two-story homes: upstairs baths, where we plan plumbing access before demo day
- Homes with a second bath: we can update both in one project, as one family near 7 Mile and Farmington did
- Every home: a written, all-in price after we measure, covering materials, labor, haul-away, and cleanup

Livonia FAQs
Livonia Bathroom Remodeling Questions
Straight answers, drawn from bathrooms we have remodeled in Livonia.
-
How long does a bathroom remodel take in Livonia?
Tub-to-shower conversions and tub replacements take 2-4 working days. Full remodels take 5-10 working days, depending on scope. The full remodel near 5 Mile and Newburgh, with a new tub, walls, double vanity, floor, and toilet, took 10 working days. -
Can you replace an original steel tub and mortar-set tile?
Yes. It is one of the most common jobs we do in Livonia. We remove the steel tub and the tile, prepare the walls, and install either a new acrylic tub or a shower pan, both with grout-free Pro Stone walls. In ranches with a basement, we can usually reach the drain from below. -
Can you fit a shower stall that is not a standard size?
Yes. When a stall is not a stock size, we have the Pro Stone pan made to measure. Near 6 Mile and Farmington, that meant a custom 35 x 37¾-inch pan with a 40-inch curb, beige gloss walls, a diamond corner shelf, and a DreamLine pivot door. -
What if my shower has a window in it?
We line the window opening with a Pro Stone window kit that matches the walls, so there is no painted trim or drywall inside the shower. The Biscuit subway-pattern shower between 5 Mile and Schoolcraft has one, along with a corner seat and a gold grab bar. -
Can you update two bathrooms at the same time?
Yes. Near 7 Mile and Farmington, one family had the main bath converted from a tub to a walk-in shower with a fold-down seat and a new vanity, and had the second bath’s vanity, top, and faucet replaced in the same project. Read the two-bathroom project story. -
Which parts of Livonia do you serve?
All of Livonia, including the 48150, 48152, and 48154 ZIP codes, from 8 Mile south to Joy Road and from Inkster Road west to Haggerty and Eckles. We also work in nearby Westland, Redford, Northville, Farmington Hills, and Novi. -
Are estimates free, and do you offer financing?
Yes. The in-home consultation and written estimate cost nothing, and financing options are available. For planning numbers before we visit, see our Metro Detroit bathroom remodeling cost guide.
