What Farmington Hills Bathrooms Usually Need
Farmington Hills grew mostly from the 1960s through the 1980s, with a mix of single-family houses, condos, and apartments. Many bathrooms still have their original tub, tile, and vanity.
Census estimates put the median year built for a Farmington Hills home at 1978, close to the Oakland County figure of 1975. About 6 in 10 homes went up between 1960 and 1989, and about a quarter in the 1980s alone. About 56% are detached single-family houses, about 65% are owner-occupied, and homes are split fairly evenly between two, three, and four or more bedrooms.
In homes this age we often find steel and cast iron tubs, wall tile set in mortar over wire mesh, acrylic panels added over old tile, and separate tub and shower areas in the same room. In their place go walk-in showers, new tubs, and grout-free Pro Stone cultured marble walls. For planning numbers, see typical bathroom remodeling costs.
- Steel and cast iron tubs: replaced with a new tub, as near 11 Mile and Inkster, or with a walk-in shower
- Acrylic panels over old tile: removed with the tile before new Pro Stone walls go up, as near 12 Mile and Inkster
- Two wet areas in one room: combined into one larger shower, as in a condo near Grand River
- Every home: a written, all-in price after we measure, covering materials, labor, haul-away, and cleanup

Straight answers, drawn from bathrooms we have remodeled in Farmington Hills.

How long does a bathroom remodel take in Farmington Hills?
Tub-to-shower conversions and tub replacements with Pro Stone walls take 2-4 working days. Full remodels take 5-10 working days, depending on scope, like the upstairs bath near 12 Mile and Inkster, where we replaced the tub with a shower and put in new walls, vanities, and flooring. -
Can you replace just the tub and the walls around it?
Yes. Near 12 Mile and Farmington Road, only the tub area changed: the cast iron tub and the wire-mesh tile around it came out, a 60-inch insulated steel tub went in, and Almond Bone Pro Stone walls and a ceiling panel finished it. Trim pieces cover the edge where the new walls meet the tile that stayed. -
Can you turn a separate tub and shower into one shower?
Yes. In a first-floor condo near Grand River, between Drake and Halsted, we removed a steel tub and a separate tiled shower with a pony wall, then built one 60-inch shower with Slate Pro Stone walls and a built-in bench. -
Can you add a seat in the shower?
Yes. Near 12 Mile and Inkster, the new shower has a Pro Stone corner seat, and the condo shower near Grand River has a built-in bench in Slate Pro Stone. -
Can I get a double vanity?
Yes. Near 11 Mile and Inkster, a white double vanity with a drawer bank went in under a 62-inch Carrera Pro Stone top with two wave bowls. Near 12 Mile and Inkster, two 24-inch vanities share one 69 1/2-inch Pro Stone top with two built-in bowls. -
Which parts of Farmington Hills do you serve?
All of Farmington Hills, including the 48331, 48334, 48335, and 48336 ZIP codes, from 8 Mile up to 14 Mile. We also work in nearby Farmington, Novi, Livonia, Southfield, West Bloomfield, and Bloomfield Township. -
Are estimates free, and do you offer financing?
