Bathroom Remodeling Troy, MI
Troy bathroom remodeling, tub-to-shower conversions, and tub replacements by our own installers
About a third of the homes in Troy went up in the 1970s, and many still have the original tub alcove, a drop-in or jetted tub on a tiled deck, or a builder vanity. We turn those tubs into walk-in showers, replace tubs and walls, and remodel full bathrooms, including upstairs baths and two baths at once. Our own crew handles it, start to finish.

An Old Tile Stall Becomes an Arcadia Walk-In Shower
Upstairs, the tile shower stall, the vanity, and the toilet came out, while the tub and its tiled bench stayed. We built a 48-inch Arcadia Pro Stone shower with a matching ceiling panel, a new exhaust fan and light, a large recessed niche, two chrome grab bars, and rain glass sliding doors, then added a maple double vanity under a 64-inch Arcadia top, a Kohler toilet, and Armstrong Alterna flooring.
Exhaust fan in the shower ceiling · Full remodels take 5-10 working days

A Tub Deck Becomes a Built-In Seat
The drop-in tub in this upstairs bath stayed in place. We removed its tile deck, built the deck out into a 72-inch seat level with the top of the tub, and covered the walls, deck, and seat in Slate Pro Stone with a diamond corner caddy. A new valve gives the tub a working shower, with a permanent 72-inch shower rod.

A Steel Tub Out, a Carrera Window Shower In
This was a wet-area-only job. The steel tub and the tile on drywall came out, and a 60-inch shower went in on a custom white Pro Stone pan with a Carrera curb, Carrera walls, a Pro Stone window kit, and two diamond corner caddies. We reinforced the framing for two chrome grab bars and hung a clear glass shower door.

A Jetted Tub Swapped for a Deep Soaker
Upstairs, the jetted drop-in tub and its wiring, the tile walls, the soffit above the tub, the vanity and wall cabinets, and the tile floor all came out. In went a 60 by 32-inch acrylic deep soaking tub with Slate Pro Stone walls and two corner shelves, a 60-inch Steel Gray vanity under a matching Slate Pro Stone top, a new subfloor with vinyl tile, and a new elongated toilet.

What Troy Bathrooms Usually Need
Troy grew fastest in the 1970s, and its homes run larger than the Oakland County average. Bigger homes often mean more than one bathroom to update, and many still have their original tubs, decks, and vanities.
Census estimates put the median year built for a Troy home at 1977, close to the Oakland County figure of 1975. The difference is when: about a third of Troy’s homes went up in the 1970s alone, compared with under a fifth countywide, and only about 11% were built before 1960. About 4 in 10 Troy homes have four or more bedrooms, compared with about 27% across the county. About 7 in 10 are detached single-family houses, and about 73% are owner-occupied.
In homes this age we often find drop-in and jetted tubs set in tiled decks, steel tubs with tile walls, and soffits over the tub, and larger homes often have more than one bath to update. In their place go walk-in showers, new tubs, and grout-free Pro Stone cultured marble walls. For planning numbers, see typical bathroom remodeling costs.
- Drop-in and jetted tubs: a new soaking tub, or keep the tub and turn its deck into a seat, as near Long Lake and Livernois
- Old tile showers: we replace the stall and can keep the tub, as near Square Lake and Coolidge
- Upstairs baths: we plan plumbing access for upper floors at the consultation
- Every home: a written, all-in price after we measure, covering materials, labor, haul-away, and cleanup

How long does a bathroom remodel take in Troy?
Tub-to-shower conversions and tub replacements with Pro Stone walls take 2-4 working days. Full remodels take 5-10 working days, depending on scope, like the bath near Square Lake and John R, where we replaced the tub, walls, vanity, floor, and toilet. -
Can you replace an old tile shower stall and keep the tub?
Yes. Near Square Lake and Coolidge, we removed an upstairs tile shower stall, base, walls, and ceiling, and built a 48-inch Arcadia Pro Stone walk-in shower with a large niche, two grab bars, an exhaust fan in the ceiling panel, and rain glass sliding doors. The tub and its tiled bench stayed. -
Can I keep my drop-in tub?
Yes. Near Long Lake and Livernois, the drop-in tub stayed. We removed the tile deck, built it out into a 72-inch seat level with the tub, covered the walls, deck, and seat in Slate Pro Stone, and added a valve so the tub has a working shower. -
Can you replace a jetted tub?
Yes. Near Square Lake and John R, we removed a jetted drop-in tub and its wiring, along with the soffit above it, then set a 60 by 32-inch acrylic deep soaking tub with Slate Pro Stone walls and two corner shelves. -
What if there is a window in my shower?
We keep it and trim it with a Pro Stone window kit so the walls stay sealed and easy to clean. Near Wattles and Rochester, the window stayed when a steel tub became a 60-inch Carrera shower with a clear glass door. -
