Bathroom Remodeling Dearborn, MI
Dearborn bathroom remodeling, tub-to-shower conversions, and tub replacements by our own installers
About 7 in 10 Dearborn homes were built before 1960, and many still have the original cast iron tub, wall tile set over wire mesh, or a soffit over the tub or vanity. We turn those tubs into walk-in showers, replace tubs and walls, and remodel full bathrooms. Our own crew handles it, start to finish.

A Condo’s Only Bath Gets a Walk-In Shower With a Seat
The tub and its beige tile, the oak vanity, the toilet, and the tile floor came out. The new shower has a solid white Pro Stone base, Snow Pro Stone walls, a fold-down seat, two grab bars on reinforced metal-stud framing, a Delta Ashlyn 2-in-1 shower, and a brushed nickel sliding door. A white 36-inch vanity with a Snow Pro Stone top, a matching wall cabinet, a new Kohler toilet, and gray vinyl floor tile finish the room.

A Second-Floor Bath, Rebuilt Top to Bottom
This upstairs bath is the only one in the home. The cast iron tub, the wire-mesh tile on the wet walls and wainscoting, a small soffit, the tile floor, the toilet, and the vanity all came out. In went a new 60-inch steel tub with Carrera Pro Stone walls up to the arched ceiling, a built-in shelf beside the tub, a pedestal sink on new plumbing, a recessed medicine cabinet, and new vinyl tile flooring.

A Full Gut Turns the Tub Into a Walk-In Shower
Everything in this main-floor bath came out: the tub, the wire-mesh wainscoting and tub walls, both soffits, the vanity, and the floor. The new walk-in shower sits on a custom 60-inch Pro Stone pan with Tender Grey walls, three corner shelves, a shampoo niche, matte black grab bars, and a 1/4-inch glass bypass door. A 48-inch maple vanity sits under a matching Pro Stone top with a wave bowl.

What Dearborn Bathrooms Usually Need
Most of Dearborn was built before 1960, and most homes are owner-occupied single-family houses. Many bathrooms still have their original tub, tile, and plumbing.
Census estimates put the median year built for a Dearborn home at 1952, compared with 1956 across Wayne County. About 7 in 10 Dearborn homes were built before 1960, and about a quarter before 1940. About 3 in 4 are detached single-family houses, about 68% are owner-occupied, and nearly half have three bedrooms.
In homes this age we often find cast iron tubs, wall tile set in mortar over wire mesh, soffits over the tub or vanity, old drum traps under the tub, and water lines with no shutoff valves. In their place go walk-in showers, new tubs, and grout-free Pro Stone cultured marble walls. For planning numbers, see typical bathroom remodeling costs.
- Cast iron tubs: replaced with a new tub, as near Cherry Hill and Telegraph, or with a walk-in shower
- Soffits: removed, with recessed lights in their place, as south of Michigan Avenue near Outer Drive
- Old plumbing: drum traps replaced and shutoff valves added where there were none
- Every home: a written, all-in price after we measure, covering materials, labor, haul-away, and cleanup

Dearborn FAQs
Dearborn Bathroom Remodeling Questions
Straight answers, drawn from bathrooms we have remodeled in Dearborn.
-
How long does a bathroom remodel take in Dearborn?
Tub-to-shower conversions and tub replacements with Pro Stone walls take 2-4 working days. Full remodels take 5-10 working days, depending on scope, like the main-floor bath south of Michigan Avenue near Outer Drive, where we gutted the room and turned the tub into a walk-in shower. -
Can you replace a cast iron tub?
Yes. Near Cherry Hill and Telegraph, a cast iron tub came out of a second-floor bath and a new 60-inch steel tub went in, with Carrera Pro Stone walls up to the arched ceiling. Old wall tile set in mortar over wire mesh comes out before the new walls go in. -
What if it is the only bathroom in the house?
Tell us at the consultation, and we will go over the schedule with you before work starts. Both full remodels on this page were in homes with only one working bathroom. -
Can you take out a soffit?
Yes. South of Michigan Avenue near Outer Drive, we removed both soffits and put four recessed lights where the vanity soffit had been. Near Cherry Hill and Telegraph, a small soffit came out and the new walls run up to the arched ceiling. -
Can you add an exhaust fan?
Yes. Both full remodels on this page got a new exhaust fan. South of Michigan Avenue near Outer Drive, it vents out through the brick exterior wall. -
Which parts of Dearborn do you serve?
All of Dearborn, including the 48120, 48124, 48126, and 48128 ZIP codes, east and west of the Southfield Freeway. We also work in nearby Dearborn Heights, Allen Park, Redford, Westland, Livonia, and Taylor. -
Are estimates free, and do you offer financing?
Yes. The in-home consultation and written estimate cost nothing, and financing options are available. For planning numbers before we visit, see our Metro Detroit bathroom remodeling cost guide.
