The Job

A Tub Out, a Safer Shower In

This Dearborn condo has one bathroom. We tore out the tub and its beige tile, the old oak vanity, and the toilet. The small white tile floor came up too.

The walls here are metal studs, so we reinforced the framing behind the new grab bars and seat before the shower went in. The shower has a Pro Stone base made to fit the old tub space and Snow Pro Stone walls with a corner caddy. A fold-down seat, two grab bars, and a hand shower make it easier to use. A clear sliding glass door closes it in.

A new white vanity with three drawers went in under a Snow Pro Stone top with a built-in sink. A matching white wall cabinet now hangs over a new Kohler toilet. New gray vinyl floor tile went down with Pro Stone baseboard.

We patched the walls where the old tile and fixtures came off, and painting was left to the homeowner. Adam and Dave did the install, and Dean was the product specialist. This is one Home Pro USA project in Dearborn. More local work is on our Dearborn bathroom remodeling page, and nearby cities are on our Wayne County page.

Questions About This Remodel

Can you remodel the only bathroom in a condo?
Yes. This bathroom is the only one in this Dearborn condo. Tell us at the consultation if yours is the only bathroom, and we will plan the work around it.
How long does a tub-to-shower conversion like this take?
A tub-to-shower conversion by itself usually takes 2-4 working days. This job also included a new vanity, a wall cabinet, a toilet, and a floor, which adds time. Your written quote lists the full scope before work starts.
Can you install grab bars and a shower seat on metal stud walls?
Yes. These walls are metal studs, so we reinforced the framing behind the fold-down seat and both grab bars before the Pro Stone walls went up.
What is Pro Stone?
Pro Stone is our cultured marble for shower bases, walls, vanity tops, thresholds, and baseboard. It goes up in large panels with no grout lines. This bathroom uses Snow, a bright white with a fine speckle.
Did you paint the bathroom?
No. We patched the walls where the old tile and fixtures came off, and the homeowner handled the painting.
Do you work in Dearborn?
Yes. This job is in Dearborn, in Wayne County. See more on our Dearborn bathroom remodeling page. Home Pro USA crews remodel bathrooms across Metro Detroit from our Center Line showroom.
