Bathroom Remodeling Macomb, MI
Macomb Township bathroom remodeling, tub-to-shower conversions, and tub replacements by our own installers
About 6 in 10 Macomb Township homes went up between 1990 and 2009, and many still have the bathroom the builder put in: a steel tub, tile set over wire mesh, a corner tub next to a separate shower, or a fiberglass shower stall. We turn those tubs into walk-in showers, replace tubs and walls, and remodel full bathrooms. Our own crew handles it, start to finish.

A Bigger Shower, and Two Vanities Where the Tub Was
Upstairs, the steel tub, the old shower with its pan and door, a wall and soffit, the vanity, and the tile floor came out. We moved the shower plumbing wall and built a 54 1/2 by 44 1/2-inch shower on a custom Sterling Silver Pro Stone pan with a corner curb, Sterling Silver walls 96 inches tall, three corner shelves, and a 3/8-inch heavy glass door. Then we reran the supply and drain lines where the tub had been for the homeowners’ own two vanities.

What Macomb Bathrooms Usually Need
Macomb Township grew mostly from the 1990s on, with detached houses in newer subdivisions and some condos. Many bathrooms still have the tub, tile, and vanity the builder put in.
Census estimates put the median year built for a Macomb Township home at 2000, much newer than the Macomb County figure of 1975. About 6 in 10 homes went up between 1990 and 2009, and nearly 8 in 10 since 1990. About 78% are detached single-family houses, about 91% are owner-occupied, and about half have three bedrooms, with about a third at four or more.
In homes this age we often find steel tubs, wall tile set in mortar over wire mesh, drop-in corner tubs next to a separate shower, and fiberglass shower stalls. In their place go walk-in showers, new tubs, and grout-free Pro Stone cultured marble walls. For planning numbers, see typical bathroom remodeling costs.
- Steel tubs: turned into walk-in showers, as near Romeo Plank and 21 Mile, or replaced with a new tub, as near 22 Mile and Heydenreich
- A corner tub next to a separate shower: combined into one larger shower, as near North Avenue and 21 Mile
- Wire-mesh tile: removed before new grout-free Pro Stone walls go up
- Every home: a written, all-in price after we measure, covering materials, labor, haul-away, and cleanup

Macomb Bathroom Remodeling Questions
Straight answers, drawn from bathrooms we have remodeled in Macomb.
-
How long does a bathroom remodel take in Macomb Township?
Tub-to-shower conversions and tub replacements with Pro Stone walls take 2-4 working days. Full remodels take 5-10 working days, depending on scope, like the upstairs bath near Romeo Plank and 21 Mile, where we replaced the tub with a shower and put in new vanities, a top, flooring, and an interior door. -
Can you replace just the tub and the walls around it?
Yes. Near 22 Mile and Heydenreich, only the tub area changed: the steel tub, the wire-mesh tile, and the tile ceiling came out, and a 60-inch acrylic tub with Almond Bone Pro Stone walls and a ceiling panel went in. The floor, vanity, and toilet stayed. -
Can you turn a corner tub and a separate shower into one shower?
Yes. Near North Avenue and 21 Mile, we removed a drop-in corner tub and the tiled shower beside it and built one 58 1/2 by 36 1/2-inch shower with Carrera Pro Stone walls and a heavy glass door. We also closed up one of the two windows in that room. -
Can you move the plumbing?
Yes. Near Hayes and 25 Mile, we moved the shower plumbing wall to build a larger shower, then reran the supply and drain lines where the tub had been so the homeowners could put two vanities there. -
Can you add a seat in the shower?
Yes. Near Romeo Plank and 21 Mile, the new 60-inch shower has a built-in Almond Bone bench. Near Hall Road and Card Road, a fiberglass shower in a modular home became a Pro Stone shower with a box bench seat. -
Which parts of Macomb Township do you serve?
All of Macomb Township, including the 48042 and 48044 ZIP codes, from Hall Road up to 26 Mile. We also work in nearby Shelby Township, Clinton Township, Chesterfield, and Sterling Heights. -
Are estimates free, and do you offer financing?
Yes. The in-home consultation and written estimate cost nothing, and financing options are available. For planning numbers before we visit, see our Metro Detroit bathroom remodeling cost guide.
