Jetted Tub and Mirror Walls Out, an Italian White Walk-In Shower In

This Farmington Hills bath had a drop-in jetted tub on a tiled deck, with mirrors on the walls around it. Now a walk-in shower with Italian White Pro Stone walls, a bench, and a clear glass panel fills that spot. The vanity, toilet, and floor stayed.

The Job

A Jetted Tub Turned Walk-In Shower

This first-floor bath in Farmington Hills had two wet areas. A drop-in jetted tub sat on a tiled deck, with mirror panels on the walls around it. A shower chair sat in the tub. An older tiled shower stood nearby.

The jetted tub, its tile deck, and the mirror panels came out. So did the old tiled shower and its door. The vanity, toilet, and tile floor stayed.

The new walk-in shower fills the old tub spot. It sits on a custom white Pro Stone base, about 84 by 43 inches, with a hexagon pattern and a one-piece curb.

Four tall Italian White Pro Stone panels line the walls, in a gloss finish. A Pro Stone bench sits by the plumbing wall, close to the shower controls and the hand shower. Two corner shelves hold bottles.

A clear glass panel with chrome trim keeps the spray in. The entry stays open, with no door to swing. Two chrome grab bars give a steady hand hold.

A chrome Moen shower system has a fixed shower head and a hand shower on a slide bar.

Adam and Dave did the installation in 7 working days. Kevin was the product specialist. This is one Home Pro USA project in Farmington Hills, in Oakland County. See more on our Farmington Hills page.

Questions About This Remodel

How long did this tub-to-shower remodel take?
Seven working days. Adam and Dave took out the jetted tub, its deck, the mirrors, and the old tiled shower. Then they built the new walk-in shower where the tub was, with its bench, shelves, and glass panel.
Did the vanity and floor have to change?
No. Only the wet areas came out: the jetted tub with its deck and mirrors, and the old tiled shower. The vanity, toilet, and tile floor all stayed. A white one-piece curb finishes the front of the new shower.
Why a glass panel instead of a shower door?
A fixed clear glass panel keeps the spray in, and the entry stays open. There is no door to swing or track to clean. A long shower like this one, about 84 inches, gives the panel room to work.
Where does the bench sit in this shower?
The bench sits by the plumbing wall, so the shower controls and the hand shower on its slide bar are close at hand. The bench and its trim pieces are Italian White Pro Stone, matching the walls and shelves.
What is Italian White Pro Stone?
Pro Stone is our cultured marble. Italian White is a soft white with light veining, here in a gloss finish. The walls are four large panels, so there are far fewer seams to clean than in the old tile.
