The Job

Pink Tile Out, a Frost Shower and Navy Vanity In

This first-floor bathroom was pink tile from the floor up, even on the vanity counter and a pony wall by the toilet. Two soffits hung over the tub and the vanity. All of it came out: the tile, the tub, and both soffits, plus the old vanity, toilet, and floor.

Where the tile came off, we reinforced the framing for grab bars and hung new moisture-resistant drywall. We added two new GFCI circuits and moved the ceiling light over the new sink. The homeowner supplied the round mirror, the vanity light bar, and the exhaust fan.

The walk-in shower has a solid white Pro Stone base and Frost Pro Stone walls on all three sides. A Frost corner seat and two pie shelves sit inside. A chrome Delta shower with a hand shower and chrome grab bars finish it. A clear sliding glass door closes it in.

The new vanity is maple in Nightfall, a deep navy, under a Frost Pro Stone top with a built-in white bowl. A new Kohler toilet and a gray tile floor finish the room.

Adam and Dave did the install in 10 working days, and Kevin was the product specialist. The first photos below show the room after it was painted; one shower photo was taken before painting, with the walls patched. This is one of two Home Pro USA project stories in St. Clair Shores. The other, near 11 Mile and Little Mack, is a tub-to-shower conversion that kept the tile wainscoting and floor. More local work is on our St. Clair Shores bathroom remodeling page.

Project FAQs

Questions About This Remodel

Can you take out the old tile in the whole bathroom, not just around the tub?
Yes. In this bathroom the pink tile came off every wall, the vanity counter, and the floor. We hung new moisture-resistant drywall where it was and finished it, so the room was ready for paint.
How is a full remodel different from a tub-to-shower conversion?
A tub-to-shower conversion changes the wet area only, like our St. Clair Shores tub-to-shower near 11 Mile and Little Mack, where the tile wainscoting and floor stayed. A full remodel like this one also replaces the walls, vanity, and floor, and can include soffit removal and electrical work.
How long does a full bathroom remodel like this take?
Full remodels usually take 5-10 working days, depending on scope. This one took 10 working days, with all of the tile and both soffits coming out and new drywall going in. Your written quote lists the full scope before work starts.
What is Frost Pro Stone?
Pro Stone is our cultured marble for showers, vanity tops, and trim. It goes up in large panels with no grout lines. This bathroom uses Frost, a light speckled color, for the shower, the vanity top, and the threshold.
Can I supply my own mirror, light, or fan?
Yes. The homeowner supplied the round mirror, the vanity light bar, and the exhaust fan for this bathroom. Tell us at the consultation what you plan to supply, and we will include it in the plan.
Do you work in St. Clair Shores?
Yes. This job is near 11 Mile and Jefferson in St. Clair Shores, in Macomb County. See more on our St. Clair Shores bathroom remodeling page. Home Pro USA crews remodel bathrooms across Metro Detroit from our Center Line showroom.
