The Job

The Drop-In Tub Came Out for a Bigger Shower

This Canton master bathroom had a jetted drop-in tub with a tiled deck taking floor space the homeowners wanted for a better shower. We removed the tub and built a larger walk-in shower with a bench seat and bypass glass doors in oil-rubbed bronze. The shower walls are large-format 48 × 96 porcelain panels.

The old vanity came out at the same time. In its place we installed a new two-sink Merillat Classic vanity in maple with a Sable finish and Spring Valley doors, an Amber Waves quartz top with two undermount sinks, and Delta Ashlyn faucets. New Armstrong Alterna Ivory Poem 12 × 24 flooring was set with the new layout so the shower, bench, and vanity read as one room.

Adam and Dave installed it in 11 working days in June 2025, from demolition through finished fixtures. Jeff was the product specialist. The homeowners were happy with the finished bathroom. This is one Home Pro USA project in Canton, in Wayne County. See more local work on our Canton bathroom remodeling page.

Before

The Dated Master Bathroom

The drop-in tub used the best floor space. The shower was smaller than it needed to be, and the old vanity was due for replacement.

During Construction

Tub Out, Then the Larger Shower

The drop-in tub came out first so the shower could grow. Then the vanity and flooring were reset for the new two-sink layout.

Finished Bathroom

The Finished Master Bathroom

A larger porcelain-tile shower with a bench and bypass doors, plus a new two-sink vanity with a quartz top.

Project FAQs

Questions About This Kind of Remodel

How long did this Canton master bathroom take?
11 working days in June 2025, from demolition through finished fixtures. A written quote will confirm the schedule for your home.
Why remove a drop-in tub instead of keeping it?
In this room the tub used the best floor space and kept the shower smaller than it needed to be. Removing it let us build a larger walk-in shower with a bench and bypass doors. We will only recommend that when the layout actually gains space.
Is this cultured marble or porcelain tile?
This job is large-format 48 × 96 porcelain on the shower walls, with a Pro Stone pure white base and bench top. If you want a similar look with a faster wall-system install, see cultured marble bathroom remodeling. We will show both in the consult.
Do you remodel bathrooms in Canton and nearby Wayne County cities?
Yes. This job is in Canton. We also work across Wayne County, including Livonia, Plymouth, Northville, Westland, and Dearborn.
What will a remodel like this cost?
Price depends on the tub removal, the porcelain shower, the bypass doors, and the two-sink quartz vanity. Use the Metro Detroit cost guide for planning ranges, then get a written in-home quote.
