Primary Bathroom Remodel in Linden

A jetted tub under glass block windows and a closed-in tile shower came out of this primary bathroom in Linden. A freestanding slipper tub, a Pro Stone walk-in shower with a bench, and a double vanity went in. The home is near Lahring Road and North Road.

The Job

Jetted Tub and Tile Shower Out, an Open Primary Bath In

This first-floor primary bath had a jetted tub in a tiled deck under two glass block windows, next to a closed-in tile shower. We tore out the tub, the tiled shower, and the glass block, along with the wall between them. The old vanity, toilet, and floor came out too. The wood crown molding stayed.

We rebuilt the wall between the tub and the shower as a half wall and raised the ceiling in the shower area. The new shower is white Pro Stone with Tender Grey veining and a built-in bench. Corner shelves and a recessed niche hold bottles. Matte black fixtures, a grab bar, and a new recessed light finish the inside. A fixed glass panel sits on the half wall.

Where the jetted tub was, a white freestanding slipper tub now stands with a matte black floor-mounted filler. White wainscoting with a chair rail runs around the tub and the toilet, and the walls were finished with new drywall.

On the vanity wall, two maple vanities in Cotton share a Frost Pro Stone top with two sinks. A Kohler toilet and Armstrong plank flooring finish the room.

Cameron and Nick did the installation in 18 working days, and Larry was the product specialist. The custom glass panel went in on a follow-up visit once it arrived. Can you replace a jetted tub with a freestanding tub?
Yes. In this bathroom the drop-in jetted tub and its tiled deck came out, and a white acrylic freestanding slipper tub with a floor-mounted filler went in. Without the deck, the room feels much more open.
Can you open up a closed-in shower?
Yes. The wall between the tub and the old tiled shower was rebuilt as a half wall with a fixed glass panel above it, and the low shower ceiling was raised, so light from the room now reaches the shower.
How long did this remodel take?
Cameron and Nick finished it in 18 working days. This was a large primary bath with a rebuilt wall and a raised ceiling, so it took longer than a typical full remodel, which usually runs 5-10 working days. Pro Stone is our cultured marble for shower walls, benches, curbs, thresholds, and vanity tops. It goes up in large panels with no grout lines. This shower uses white Pro Stone with Tender Grey veining, and the vanity top is Pro Stone in Frost.
